We introduce a model of a growing interface within a random porous med
ium in the framework of solid-on-solid restrictions. The possibility o
f having viscous fingering effects is included through a height depend
ent probability for the advance of the interface. The inclusion of vis
cous fingering effects is regulated by a parameter. The temporal scali
ng of the interface seems to be unaffected but the spatial scaling var
ies with the intensity of the fingering. In principle, although the fi
ngering effect could always be present in real interfaces, in porous m
edia its intensity is very difficult to estimate.
