Generally, it is difficult to recharge the sealed lead-acid battery af
ter overdischarge. Thus, the improvement of the rechargeability of the
overdischarged sealed lead-acid battery was examined. The formation o
f PbSO4 from the oxide layer on the interface between the grid of the
positive plate and the active material during the overcharge affected
to reduce the rechargeability after overdischarge. The dipping of the
positive plate in dilute H2SO4 for 48 h at 40 degrees C improved the r
echargeability after overdischarge.
