M. Tashiro et Gt. Montelione, STRUCTURES OF BACTERIAL IMMUNOGLOBULIN-BINDING DOMAINS AND THEIR COMPLEXES WITH IMMUNOGLOBULINS, Current opinion in structural biology, 5(4), 1995, pp. 471-481
Three-dimensional structures are now available for several immunoglobu
lin binding domains from bacterial proteins A, G, and L. X-ray diffrac
tion and NMR experiments on complexes of these domains with portions o
f immunoglobulins have revealed common structural themes used in these
interactions. These data expand our understanding of structure/functi
on relationships in these molecular recognition processes and provide
the basis for rational design of artificial immunoglobulin-binding mol
ecules.
