Abstract
This paper propounds an unified model for the different phases of grow th of microbial populations in a closed system: [GRAPHICS] where m and m(0) are the number (or mass) of microorganisms per unit volume at ti me t and zero time respectively, M is the maximum number (or mass) of microorganisms per unit volume, zeta(1) and k(1) are the constants, th e upper signs in '+/-' and '-/+' correspond to the increasing phase of microbial growth process, and the lower signs correspond to the decre asing phase. By the model, we got a good fit to the data obtained from batch culture.
