Outcomes measurement will be key to the appropriate use of pharmaceuti cals as health care costs continue to rise. The generation of data sho wing the clinical, economic, and humanistic outcomes of pharmaceutical care will be essential to avoid decision making based solely on cost and to ensure that cost-effective, high-quality health care remains th e health care system's top priority.
