G. Funke et H. Rosner, RAHNELLA AQUATILIS BACTEREMIA IN AN HIV-INFECTED INTRAVENOUS DRUG-ABUSER, Diagnostic microbiology and infectious disease, 22(3), 1995, pp. 293-296
Rahnella aquatilis, an unusual enteric Gram-negative rod, was isolated
from three of four blood cultures of an HIV-infected intravenous drug
abuser. The outcome was favorable after a 14-day course with ciproflo
xacin. The identification of R. aquatilis isolates is discussed and a
synopsis of the previously published antimicrobial susceptibility patt
erns of this microorganism is given.
