Gq. Zhong et al., CIRCUITS FOR VOLTAGE TUNING THE PARAMETERS OF CHUAS CIRCUIT - EXPERIMENTAL APPLICATION FOR MUSICAL SIGNAL GENERATION, Journal of the Franklin Institute, 331B(6), 1994, pp. 743-784
It is well known that Chua's circuit can exhibit numerous bifurcation
phenomena and attractors by tuning one or more circuit parameters. The
se properties can be used to synthesize sounds with complex frequency
spectra for musical purposes. Investigations of Chua's circuit for sou
nd synthesis and music composition have produced specifications for tu
ning multiple circuit parameters to obtain specific classes of sounds.
This paper presents a multiple control of Chua's circuit in which eac
h parameter of the circuit can be varied by an external control voltag
e. The design of the subcircuits and the experimental results are show
n. Programmable computer software was designed to provide fast multipl
e-parameter control of the analog Chua's circuit for use in music comp
osition and live performance. The basic circuit discussed in this pape
r appealed in a series of live music performances at Expo '93, Seoul,
Korea.
