Abstract
To measure the permeability of concrete, a non steady state air permea meter has been developed by our laboratory. Its design is presented an d the theory is developed for calculating the permeability. The permea bility may be calculated also according to a simplified theory which l eads to a 25% systematic underassessment. The values obtained with thi s new instrument are compared with those given by a steady state appar atus (Cembureau type), and the results are very similar. The steady st are permeameter presented is a simple design and straight forward to u se.
