Abstract
Wa study the transition from a spiral to a double-scroll attractor in a canonical circuit realization of a third-order electrical circuit (C hua circuit) family as a control parameter p(c) (capacitance, C-2) is varied. A sudden widening of the chaotic attractor is observed during this transition, meaning a crisis-induced intermittency. The dependenc e of the characteristic time tau on the system control parameter has t he well-known exponential form tau similar to \p -p(c)\(-gamma) for p close to the critical value p(c), the critical exponent gamma having a value of 0.5016.
