Vb. Vozzhinskaya et Np. Luchina, BRIEF ANALYSIS AND SOME SPECIFIC FEATURES OF THE WHITE SEA BENTHIC FLORA, Izvestia Akademii nauk SSSR. Seria biologiceskaa, (4), 1995, pp. 475-480
The taxonomic and biogeographic structure of the White Sea algoflora h
as been considered. The lists of algae-macrophytes includes 191 specie
s from 13 biogeographic groups. The flora nucleus is composed of speci
es of the boreal and boreal-Arctic origin (65% of the total White Sea
algoflora). A group of warm water species is also represented (5.7%).
The White Sea algoflora was compared with the North Atlantic and Pacif
ic algofloras. It is located at the boundary between two biogeographic
zones and this allows to consider it as typically high-boreal and Arc
tatlantic by origin.
