A new version of the statistical method for determining the adsorption
parameters that is based on the optimization of differential capacita
nce curves in solutions of simple organic substances is developed. The
method is used for analyzing data earlier published concerning the ad
sorption of ethyl, n-propyl, and n-butyl alcohols on a mercury electro
de from aqueous solutions with 0.1 M NaF as the supporting electrolyte
. The applicability to these systems of certain phenomenological model
s for the reversible adsorption of organic substances on electrodes is
discussed.
