K. Yamada et al., ELECTROPOLYMERIZATION OF ANILINE DERIVATIVES IN NONAQUEOUS SOLUTION WITHOUT A PROTON DONOR, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 394(1-2), 1995, pp. 71-79
The initial formation of poly(aniline) and its derivatives was investi
gated for the electropolymerization of anilines in several non-aqueous
solutions without proton donor to prepare the films effectively. In t
his study, 1,2-dichloroethane, acetonitrile, propylene carbonate and t
etrahydrofuran were employed as solvent. The donor number of the solve
nt affects the deprotonation of the cation radical of the monomer form
ed, and the dimer and products, and the dielectric constant of the sol
vent affects chain propagation during the electropolymerization of ani
lines respectively. 1,2-Dichloroethane is revealed to be a more effect
ive solvent than the others used in this study to prepare electroactiv
e and soluble poly(aniline)s with head-to-tail structure.
