Abstract
The two olefinic backbone replacements III and IV were synthesized and incorporated into oligonucleotides. The hybridization properties of t he modified oligonucleotides to DNA and RNA complements and conformati onal analyses of III and TV are compared to the corresponding amide mo difications I and II.
