10 Gbit/s optical data stream has been regenerated ail-optically by cl
ock recovery and remodulation. The regenerator consists of a fibre rin
g laser, modelocked by the incoming data stream, and a Kerr shutter ac
ting as an all-optical AND gate to recode the ring laser pulses with t
he incoming data. Error ratio measurements for an all-optical regenera
tor are presented for the first time and the future potential of all-o
ptical regeneration is discussed.
