T. Coroy et al., ACTIVE WAVELENGTH DEMODULATION OF BRAGG FIBEROPTIC STRAIN SENSOR USING ACOUSTOOPTIC TUNABLE FILTER, Electronics Letters, 31(18), 1995, pp. 1602-1603
An acousto-optic tunable filter based active wavelength demodulation s
ystem for intracore Bragg grating fibre-optic sensors has been demonst
rated. The system uses an intensity self-referenced edge-locking techn
ique to track the reflected signal of the Bragg sensor. A strain resol
ution of 2.2 mu epsilon was achieved with a Bragg fibre-optic strain s
ensor operating at similar to 1324nm, corresponding to a wavelength re
solution of 2.6pm. The potential for high resolution measurements over
wide wavelength ranges is particularly attractive for wavelength mult
iplexing of Bragg grating sensors.
