From a number of ion-exchange resins and adsorbents, a macro-pore weak
-base type anion ion-exchange resin, D354, was selected for the separa
tion of lactic acid. Experimental data showed that simultaneous ion-ex
change and physical adsorption existed in the lactic acid-D354 system.
A mathematical model was suggested to simulate the experimental data.
Also, the effects of inorganic salts on the ion-exchange, equilibrium
were studied. The difference in ion-exchange equilibrium between DL-a
nd L-lactic acid was observed.
