Nc. Nielsen et al., BOUNDS ON SPIN DYNAMICS TIGHTENED BY PERMUTATION SYMMETRY - APPLICATION TO COHERENCE TRANSFER IN I2S AND I3S SPIN SYSTEMS, Molecular physics, 85(6), 1995, pp. 1205-1216
The effect of spin permutation symmetry on the maximum achievable effi
ciency of coherence transfer between pairs of Hermitian or non-Hermiti
an spin operators is investigated. It is shown that spin permutation s
ymmetry may tighten significantly the quantum mechanical bounds hither
to known to apply for coherence transfer processes. This feature is de
monstrated for the heteronuclear coherence transfer processes S-x-->F-
x, S--->F- and 2F(z)S(x)-->F-x, 2F(z)S(-) -->F- (F=Sigma(i=1)(n) I-i)
in I2S and I3S (n=2, 3) spin-1/2 systems. The bounds arising from perm
utation symmetry apply for non-selective multidimensional NMR experime
nts.
