A proto-type silicon drift chamber has been tested mainly by using an
LED. The characteristic behavior of the detector is discussed through
the measurement of electron drift time. Under a special situation the
anode signal showed the increasing rise time and the decreasing amplit
ude with the drift distance. The former is understood at least by the
electro-static repulsion of the electron cloud, while the latter is su
ggestive of the trapping of electron to some impurity levels.
