Alpha-induced thick-target gamma-ray yields from light elements have b
een measured in the energy range 5.6 MeV less than or equal to E(alpha
) less than or equal to 10 MeV. The gamma-ray yields above 2 MeV from
thick targets of beryllium, boron nitride, sodium fluoride, magnesium,
and aluminum were measured, and the results of this experiment were u
sed to construct tables suitable for calculating the alpha-induced dir
ect production gamma-ray intensity distributions from materials. These
results show a significant reduction compared with previous estimates
of the distribution.
