The advantages of new soluble, fusible, processible, and oxidation-res
istant copolymers based on ethylene and acetylene; in which the conten
t of rigid (acetylene) and flexible (ethylene) fragments was varied ov
er a wide range, were studied. The structure of the nascent powders an
d films was investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy, X-r
ay diffraction, and DSC methods. Doping with iodine was shown to resul
t in the appearance of de conductance in copolymer samples in which th
e content of acetylene fragments was higher than 10 mol %. The transpo
rt of charge carriers in the copolymers was found to be controlled by
the doped acetylene fragments and was described by the hopping mechani
sm.
