M. Rozyczka et al., THE IMPACT OF SUPERNOVA EXPLOSIONS ON THE STRUCTURE AND EVOLUTION OF AGN DISCS, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 276(2), 1995, pp. 597-606
Two-dimensional numerical simulations of supernova explosions in the i
nnermost 1 pc of an AGN accretion disc are presented. It is found that
the explosions do not disrupt the disc. However, they can induce a su
bstantial angular momentum redistribution. Based on the explosion rate
derived from the frequency of stellar captures by the disc from the s
tellar core of the parent galaxy, it is estimated that supernovae prov
ide a rate of angular momentum transfer corresponding to alpha similar
to 0.1-1 in the standard accretion disc model.
