Abstract
A case report ist given on a 54-year-old patient with the so called li pid island (xanthelasma) in the duodenal mucosa. Xanthelasmas are very rarely located in the duodenal mucosa. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis of this entity are reported. The relevance of histochemistr y and immunohistochemistry for differentiation of signet ring carcinom a cells in the mucosa is discussed.
