Abstract
Pesticide regulation and pesticide residue monitoring have been pursue d to varying degrees of success in the Philippines but implementation is considered inadequate. Improved regulation and implementation of po licies for the monitoring of pesticide residues in foods and feeds are required for local and international trade, Farmers need education on pesticide use, handling, and the risks to humans and the environment. This should be coupled with stringent regulations for pesticide impor tation, formulation plants, storage, and monitoring of fields and plan tations.
