Abstract
Superdeformation in Gd-146 has been studied using the EUROGAM I spectr ometer at the NSF Daresbury. The two known superdeformed (SD) bands in Gd-146 have been extended to 15 transitions. All transitions within e ach band were clearly observed in coincidence among each other and acc urate gamma-ray energies were determined. The association of both band s to Gd-146 has been unambiguously confirmed. In addition a band with energies corresponding to the first known SD band in Gd-147 was also o bserved. Several methods to search for new SD bands were applied.
