Abstract
We evaluate the amplitude of the Larmor frequency component of the sca nning tunneling microscope current induced by a single resonating spin , in a model in which the tunneling barrier is modulated via spin-orbi t interaction. From Kramer's theorem follows, however, that the barrie r-height modulation cannot have Larmor components and such components in the current are caused by its nonlinear dependence with the barrier height. We obtain an effect which is five orders of magnitude smaller than that reported by Y. Manassen et al.
