K. Filipiak et al., ELECTROREDUCTION OF 2-AMINO-5-NITROBENZEN OSULFONIC ACID WITH PALLADIUM PROMOTED COPPER CATHODE, Przemysl Chemiczny, 74(8), 1995, pp. 301
There have been carried out tests to determine conditions of the elect
roreduction of 2-amino-5-nitrobenzenosulfonic acid to 2,5-diaminobenze
nosulfonic acid process with use of copper electrode as cathode. It ha
s been found out that the occurrence of the process on the copper elec
trode led to 74% reduction of the acid, but selectivity of the 2,5-dia
minobenzenosulfonic acid formation did not exceed 7%. Addition of 2 mo
l % of PdCl2 - computing on the substrate - into the electrolyte (NaCI
acidified with HCl) increased the process selectivity up to 92% and c
onversion of 2-amino-5-nitrobenzenosulfonic acid remained on the same
level.
