We describe a patient with acute HIV exanthem with papulovesicular les
ions and epidermal necrosis. We also review the literature regarding t
he histopathologic findings of acute HIV exanthem, which apears to be
most commonly characterized by a perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate w
ithout epidermal change, but which may be associated with spongiosis,
vacuolar alteration, or epidermal necrosis.
