Abstract
The purpose of this paper is twofold: (1) to remove the possible excep tional cases in a theorem of Ishibashi and Earnest on two-element gene ration of orthogonal groups over finite fields, and (2) to obtain a re sult on generation by symmetries for orthogonal groups over finite fie lds of characteristics 2.
