Pj. Collins et Adw. Dobson, EXTRACELLULAR LIGNIN AND MANGANESE PEROXIDASE PRODUCTION BY THE WHITE-ROT FUNGUS CORIOLUS-VERSICOLOR-290, Biotechnology letters, 17(9), 1995, pp. 989-992
Lignin peroxidase (LiP) and manganese peroxidase (MnP) activity in Cor
iolus versicolor 290 reach maximal levels after 8 and 10 days growth r
espectively. Increases in LIP activity were observed upon supplementat
ion of the medium with veratryl alcohol. The physiology of this strain
is quite distinct from that of the better studied Phanerochaete chrys
osporium in that extracellular LIP activity is enhanced at carbon leve
ls of 10g/L(-1), This increase in LIP enzyme activity at higher carbon
levels appears to be mediated at the transcriptional level, given tha
t lip and mnp mRNA levels mirror the observed enzyme activity levels q
uite closely.
