From the aerial parts of Salvia candidissima, a new diterpene, 3-oxosa
lvipisone, was obtained together with 11 beta-hydroxymanoyl oxide, 8,1
3-diepimanoyl oxide, spathulenol, salvigenin, crysoeriol, diosmetin an
d o,p-dimethoxybenzoic acid. The structure of the new compound, 3-oxos
alvipisone was established by spectroscopic means, and the structure o
f 11 beta-hydroxymanoyl oxide was reinvestigated by extensive 1D and 2
D NMR studies and confirmed by X-ray analysis.
