Hm. Crane et al., INCREASING THE CELLULAR PKC INHIBITORY ACTIVITY OF BALANOL - A STUDY OF ESTER ANALOGS, Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry letters, 5(18), 1995, pp. 2133-2138
As part of an effort to enhance the cellular activity of balanol analo
gs 2 and 3, we prepared a series of benzophenone ester analogs of vary
ing steric size and hydrolytic stability. These were evaluated for pro
tein kinase C inhibitory activity, with the results showing that both
small alkyl esters and the pivaloyloxymethyl ester analogs displayed l
arge increases in cellular PKC inhibition.
