H. Jiang et al., STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF FE-N FILMS DEPOSITED ON HEATED SUBSTRATES BY ION-BEAM-ASSISTED DEPOSITION, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 149(3), 1995, pp. 358-362
Fe-N films were prepared by ion-beam-assisted deposition at different
temperatures. The composition, structure and magnetic properties of th
e films were investigated by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (R
ES), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and with vibrating sample magnetometer (V
SM). The results of XRD indicated that the films consisted of alpha-Fe
, gamma'-Fe4N and epsilon-Fe2-3N, or mixtures of these phases, accordi
ng to different N/Fe atomic arrival ratios. It was observed that the f
ilm of alpha-Fe with supersaturated nitrogen exhibited a larger M(s) t
han that of bulk iron. However, its H-c was too large to be used as so
ft magnetic film.
