Jh. Dymond, FORWARD STALL TEST - AN ALTERNATE METHOD OF ROTOR AND STATOR LOADING FOR TEMPERATURE AND VIBRATION VERIFICATION, IEEE transactions on industry applications, 31(5), 1995, pp. 1153-1158
The loading of induction machines for the purpose of determining the e
lectrical and mechanical performance of a machine at rated temperature
and load has presented problems for both manufacturers and users as m
achine sizes have out-stripped the capacity of conventional dynamomete
rs. A number of techniques has been developed that electrically load t
he stator and indirectly the rotor but not all users have been convinc
ed that the rotor heating and mechanical vibration are the same as exp
ected under a full mechanical and electrical load. This paper will sho
w that the stator and rotor temperature rises are close to direct load
ing and that the vibration is similar for an alternate method of loadi
ng called the Forward stab Method, At the same time other methods will
be presented and compared.
