Classical decision theory formulas have been combined with more recent
theories from psyche-social origins (such as Rosenstock's health beli
ef model, Fisbein's rational action theory, Bandura's concept of self-
efficacy, Triandis' concern for the assessment of habits, etc.). A sof
tware, called PROACTA, enables simulations of actual cases. Currently,
it is being tested in various backgrounds. It is orientated in order
to help conceive intervening strategies, especially in the area of pat
ient education. Examples of a case study are presented.
