Mr. Dion et al., ALCOHOL-ABUSE AND PSYCHOPATHIC DEVIANCE IN NONCUSTODIAL PARENTS AS PREDICTORS OF CHILD-SUPPORT PAYMENT AND VISITATION, American journal of orthopsychiatry, 67(1), 1997, pp. 70-79
In a three-stage study, noncustodial parents' psychopathic deviance an
d alcohol use accounted for significant variance in custodial parents'
reports of child support and visitation. In noncustodial parents' rep
orts, compliance with child support, but not frequency of visitation,
was related to measures of deviance. Implications for policy, research
, and psychoeducational interventions are discussed.
