SYNTHESIS AND REACTIONS OF MONOMERIC LATE TRANSITION-METAL ALKOXO, ARYLOXO AND HYDROXO COMPLEXES

Despite the fact that they are postulated as intermediates in many met al-catalyzed transformations, well-characterized complexes having bond s between late transition metals and alkoxo groups are not as well kno wn as their alkylmetal analogues. Even fewer examples of monomeric lat e transition metal hydroxo complexes are available. This article summa rizes recent published work from the author's group that has resulted in the synthesis of a number of rhodium, iridium, rhenium, osmium and ruthenium alkoxo:and hydroxo complexes and has allowed investigation o f their chemical properties.
