Ht. Danyluk et al., THE REISSNER-SAGOCI PROBLEM FOR A NONHOMOGENEOUS HALF-SPACE WITH A PENNY-SHAPED CRACK, Journal of engineering mathematics, 29(5), 1995, pp. 437-449
The present paper examines the elastostatic problem related to the axi
symmetric rotation of a rigid circular disc bonded to a non-homogeneou
s half-space containing a penny-shaped crack. The shear modulus of the
half-space is assumed to vary with depth according to the relation mu
(z) = mu(1)(z + c)(a),c > 0 and mu(1), alpha are constants. Using Hank
el transforms, the solution of the problem is reduced to integral equa
tions and finally to simultaneous Fredholm integral equations of the s
econd kind. By solving numerically the simultaneous Fredholm integral
equations, results are obtained which are used to estimate the stress
intensity factor at the crack tip and the torque required to rotate th
e disc through an angle omega(0).
