Rhh. Smits et Y. Iwasawa, REACTION-MECHANISMS FOR THE REDUCTION OF NITRIC-OXIDE BY HYDROCARBONSON CU-ZSM-5 AND RELATED CATALYSTS, Applied catalysis. B, Environmental, 6(3), 1995, pp. 201-207
In this letter, an overview of the literature on the reaction mechanis
m of the reduction of nitric oxide by hydrocarbons in presence of oxyg
en is given. It is followed by a discussion of some organic chemistry
literature. A new reaction mechanism is proposed which combines two of
the reaction mechanisms proposed in the literature and involves a nit
roso-intermediate which initiates a radical chain mechanism which lead
s to the disproportionation of nitric oxide into nitrogen and nitrogen
dioxide. Finally, the reaction mechanisms proposed until now are comp
ared.
