Tfz. Setenareski et al., EFFECTS OF TEXTURIZED SOYBEAN PROTEINS ON INTESTINAL MUCOUS ALTERATIONS OF PRERUMINANT KIDS, Arquivos de biologia e tecnologia, 38(2), 1995, pp. 549-563
This work was carried out to study the effects of the texturised soybe
an protein on the mucous characteristics of the duodenum, jejuno and i
leum of preruminant kids. Eighteen male kids 3/4 Saanen and 1/4 brazil
ian native kid were divided in 3 groups according to the quantity of s
oybean added to the cow's milk: COMI (cow's milk), PS30 and PS60 (30 o
r 60% of the soybean respectively). The experiment was started with an
imals of 3,7kg average weight and 8 days old. The kids were fed twice
daily (200g of the experimental diet/BW/day). Feed intake was daily co
ntrolled. After sacrifice (49 days) the duodenum, jejunum and ileum se
gments were taken from all the animals and submitted to the routine me
thodology for histological cuts achievement crowened by Weigert-Van Gi
eson, Hematoxylin-Eosin and Van Gieson Tricromo methods. The duodenum
and ileum mucous had apparently normal characteristics, while jejuno v
illus were long. Independent on the group, duodenum, jejuno and ileum
had mucous, submucous, muscular and serous tunic well defined. The sub
mucous plexus of neurons had voluminous cellular bodies, excentric nuc
leus and little basofilic citoplasm, when compared to similar size neu
rons, found in the myenteric plexus. The neurons nucleolus of these tw
o plexus were prominent and cromatine grumes in the nucleoplasma were
noticed.
