Twelve lanthanide (III) complexes, with the general formula Ln(PAAT)(3
) 5H(2)O (where Ln=La - Yb, except Pm and Tm; HPAAT = yl)propionyl]ami
noacetophenone-thiosemicarbazone), have been synthesized and character
ized on the basis of elemental analyses, IR, H-1 NMR spectra, molar co
nductance measurements, magnetic moments and TG-DTA methods. The analy
tical data suggest eight-coordination around the Ln(3+) ion with two c
oordinated water molecules. Preliminary pharmacological tests on these
complexes showed some antibacterial activity.
