Abstract
Two novel mu-oxamido heterotetranuclear complexes have been synthesize d, namely Cu-8(oxdn)(8)(ClO4)(8).H2O and Cu8Ho(oxdn)(8)(ClO4)(8), wher e oxdn is N,N'-bis(2-aminopropyl)oxamide. The complex Cu-8(oxdn)(8)(Cl O4)(8).H2O was characterized by variable temperature magnetic suscepti bility (4 approximate to 300K) studies. The magnetic susceptibility da ta was successfully simulated by the equation based on the Heisenberg model, p(2).(S)over-cap(0)+(S)over-cap(8).(S)over-cap(0). The exchange integral, J, was found to be equal to -8.3cm(-1). This indicates weak antiferromagnetic spin-exchange interactions between the Cu(II) and t he Gd(III) ions.
