Abstract
A combination of traditional and novel technological methods has been used to provide effective sintering of silicon nitride synthesized by SHS: adding yttrium oxide, adding finely-divided SHS materials as acti vators, combining the operations of mixing and dry planetary grinding, and the use of activating additives. This can produce a density great er than or equal to 96% of theoretical and a strength of 690 MPa.
