Abstract
Although studies of the impact of technology on the organization are s trongly discredited in the scientific community, there has been a grow ing trend in research over the past few years toward once again giving weight to technology. The notion of ''impact,'' in particular, has be en replaced by the notion of ''specific effects'' and that of ''organi zational design space.'' The fact remains, however, that this trend ha s not progressed very far in terms of circumscribing the specific effe cts and the design space in question. A concrete method for achieving this is proposed and discussed. (C) 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
