Lens designs are discussed for page access to data stored in volume op
tical media. Optimizations of a 4F optical storage system are performe
d. These optimized designs are evaluated for degree of parallelism ach
ieved, capacity, storage media volume, information storage density, an
d overall system volume. We find that the primary effect of aberration
s is not to reduce memory capacity but to increase system volume resul
ting in lower overall storage density.
