KINETICS AND PRODUCTS OF THE GAS-PHASE REACTIONS OF (CH3)(4)SI, (CH3)(3)SICH2OH, (CH3)(3)SIOSI(CH3)(3) AND (CD3)(3)SIOSI(CD3)(3) WITH CL ATOMS AND OH RADICALS

Direct air-sampling atmospheric-pressure ionisation tandem mass spectr ometry and FTIR spectroscopy were used to analyse the products of the OH radical- and Cl atom-initiated reactions of hexamethyldisiloxane, [ H-2(18)]hexamethyldisiloxane, tetramethylsilane and trimethylsilylmeth anol at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The data obtained i ndicate the initial formation of (CH3)(3)SiOSi(CH3)(2)OCHO and (CD3)(3 )SiOSi(CD3)(2)OCDO from hexamethyldisiloxane and [H-2(18)]hexamethyldi siloxane, respectively, and (CH3)(3)SIOCHO from both tetramethylsilane and trimethylsilylmethanol.
