Palaeomagnetic study of the Beni Bousera peridotites reveals two stabl
e directions of magnetization carried by magnetite associated with a f
raction of hematite. A North direction with unblocking temperature oft
en higher than 450 degrees C was acquired before complete cooling of t
he peridotites (16 Ma). An East (D = 103.8, l = -58.6, alpha(95) = 10.
3) direction with high unblocking temperature is interpreted as the re
sult of an anticlockwise rotation of 74 +/-13 degrees during Early Mio
cene.
