Abstract
Actin dynamics in lamellipodia are driven by continuous cycles of acti n polymerization, retrograde flow, and depolymerization, In the past y ear, advances have been made in identifying signaling pathways that re gulate actin-filament uncapping and polymerization, in determining the role of myosin motor proteins in retrograde flow, and in evaluating t he role of severing proteins in actin depolymerization. Both Listeria monocytogenes and Saccharomyces cerevisiae have emerged as powerful mo del organisms for studying actin dynamics in cells.
