Abstract
CMXD provides a new probe of local magnetism in ferro(i)magnetic mater ials. Here, we describe a recent study of the angular dependence of th e circular magnetic X-ray dichroism (CMXD) at the Dy-L(3) edge of the alloy Dy0.4TB0.6 to determine the multipolar nature of the dichroic fe atures above and below the absorption edge. Differences in the angular behavior of the feature below the edge are consistent with quadrupola r transitions.
