Abstract
Successful operation of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) and Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) requires a dynamic traff ic model that can operate in real time and reliably predict traffic co ngestion. We present a dynamic traffic model system that consists of f our modules: surveillance, origin-destination, congestion prediction a nd control strategy generation. The heart of the system is a flexible traffic simulation model. A prototype implementation of the proposed s ystem is briefly described.
