Abstract
Plants detect fluctuations in environmental conditions and in response to these changes they promote or delay flowering. Some of the genes t hat are required to regulate flowering time in response to environment al changes were identified recently and cloned from Arabidopsis. The s tudy of these genes is establishing connections between plant physiolo gy and the expression of the homeotic genes that are required for flor al development.
